This was Matthew's second meeting with Cathy Weseluck. It was Matthew's hope to not only make her aware of the presentation, but try to get her to attend the disabilities panel to see how, for a second year running, one of the characters she voiced was a part of it.
Whether Cathy was in attendance, or not, is unknown. However, she was very happy to accept a copy of Matthew and Ari's Twinkle Morningdew. She also was kind enough to sign this hand drawn image of Spike that Matthew received from one of the key members of "Bronies and Pegasisters of UCF" - https://www.facebook.com/groups/BroniesOfUCF/
Matthew also paid to have a poster his wife got for him signed by Cathy. The poster was one neither Cathy, or her colleague, had ever seen. It's unfortunately too big to scan.
Matthew also confirmed with Cathy that she did do a voice in one of the first cartoons he had ever watched as a child, Kissyfur. She did the voice of Bessie the Goose. Unfortunately, any trace of this particular role cannot readily be found. It is believed that it was only on a Promo Reel that never got released. :(

I'm sure she'd like to be part of your panel, but sadly she's most likely on a strict time schedule. :c
Poor Cathy. Her first performance in voice over, and she didn't get passed the promo. But I guess everyone starts somewhere.
Sounds like you brought home some neat stuff from BronyCon. :P

What is very interesting is how Cathy vividly remembers the voice she did for Bessie the Goose. She did it during the VA panel and again for me when I told her how one of my first memories of Saturday Morning Cartoons was watching Kissyfur.
Perhaps Cathy brings up Bessie as a reminder to herself of how she triumphed despite what happened in the demo she was asked to record for the show? In any case she's been a VA for over 30 years!
Lots of great memories from the convention. I always wish I could've done more for the cause, but perhaps next year... :)

Yeah, I'd imagine she'd remember her first role. She's come a long way.
Voice actors usually have a hard time keeping work, because once they've done the recording for one thing they're having to find another job till another recording session. Her playing a role as a close main character (Spike), and the show having many seasons is very comforting for her being a voice actor. Knowing that they're going to get more roles and recording sessions to keep doing voice work for a living. It must've been stressful for her in her early career, not nothing when the next opportunity for voice work would come.
Also you've done a lot to make the panel better than last year's, and it seems the work you put in paid off. But I guess there's always room for improvement to make it even better than the last.
Something I learned from my friends here, along with my wife, is that everything in life that you do has room for improvement. If you ever feel you can't improve upon something you set yourself up to become obsolete, or close minded. Knowing each work you do is like another step in an endless staircase of possibilities means you will always keep an open mind while remaining positive that you truly have limitless potential. :)
You make a wonderful point about Cathy, too. We can all learn from her as aspiring artists. Success is very, very hard. Even if we do succeed the success can be short lived. However, through persistence we can ensure that at least we know we are doing our best to be the best we can be until the next time we may be recognized for our efforts. :)

Kazootles! I forgot to tell you about how she had to dispel the IMDB for me during our meeting!
When I mentioned how I noticed she was in Hamtaro she immediately recalled being in the show. However, it was NOT as Penelope and Pepper. It was as Snoozer and Omar. :) Oh, well. She still got
therainbowtroll's picture of Spike and Coco holding Pepper and Penelope. :)
I think Cathy liked how I genuinely could relate back to Kissyfur. It definitely aged me, but I know she was happy knowing I wasn't just there for her work in Pony. Not this time.

Upon returning from BronyCon, I looked up Kissyfur and do believe the same VA who did Balloo in Disney's Tail Spin also was Kissyfur's dad. Not to mention how I'm pretty sure Kissyfur's VA did the voice of Dink in Dink: The Little Dinosaur. :)
80s cartoons may have been simple, but they were a lot of fun.

From what I gather, the character was never used. :(
If you get the chance to meet her, she does the voice for Bessie and is quite proud of it. So you can definitely imagine the character. Think of a grandma-like goose who is traditional in her ways. Something like Granny from Loony Toons, but much more energetic. :)
