This is Clay, in his world, everyone has sharp teeth and slimy forked tongues. His dad is a former scientist who was trying to find a cure for cancer for years. When Clay's mom was barely pregnant with Clay, she came down with cancer (not sure what type). But his dad created an injection that he thinks will cure cancer, so he tests it on his wife (Clay's mom) not knowing that she was pregnant. The injection does cure her cancer, but later to find out that she was pregnant during the injection, and Clay is born with normal human teeth and tongue. His parents then consider him a freak, and the dad creates a ring that when Clay puts it on, his teeth and tongue will appear "normal". His dad then retires of being a scientist. Clay never understood the ring growing up until he takes it off in the bathroom to find his teeth and tongue "abnormal" in the mirror. He then realizes that he is actually a "freak", but gets heartbroken to find out that his parents didn't accept him for the way he was made. He continues to wear the ring to appear "normal", but knows inside that he isn't truly accepted.
