Chapter 30
“David!”
The boy had not taken more than three steps into the streets of Lumiose City when his name was already being called. He and his Pokémon turned towards the sounds of his name to see a girl with long brown hair flowing behind her as she ran down the busy street towards him. The large red bow keeping her brown hair back flounced with her every hurried step.
Behind her trailed a round pink Pokémon which bounced around the legs of the people minding their own business as graceful as a ballerina floating through a forest. A little blue Pokémon which seemed to resemble a bird with fluffy cloud-like wings hovered over the girl’s head.
“Oh boy,” muttered Casper. The eye-roll could be heard in his voice even when the boy couldn’t see the butterfly’s face. “It’s her. Good thing ol’ Flint is in the box or you’d be taking him to the nearest Pokémon Center due to a heart attack.”
David rolled his eyes and shook his head slightly as the girl stopped just before she could run into him.
“I thought I recognised you!” exclaimed Bailey brightly. “How have you been? How is your Wonderlocke going? How did your gym battle go? How many badges do you have?”
“Good, good, very good, and one,” said David with a grin.
“That’s great to hear!” exclaimed the girl. The pink Jigglypuff caught up to her and tugged on her leg. She quickly picked up the Pokémon and hugged it close to her chest. “You look much more alive than you did the last time I saw you.”
“I guess,” said David allowing the memory of losing Felix to shadow his face slightly before he smiled. “I don’t believe you’ve introduced me to your Pokémon before.”
“This here is my Jigglypuff,” said Bailey while lifting it so the pink Pokémon was able to stare him in the face.
“Hello,” said the balloon-like Pokémon with a quick nod.
“And this is my Swablu, Cotton,” the girl continued as she made a skywards gesture and the blue and white Pokémon flying around her settled on her arm.
“Cool,” said David while beginning introductions to his team. “You’ve met Casper from before. The rest here are Scottie, Ian, Giordan, Panos and Timmie.”
“Nice to meet you all!” exclaimed Bailey with a grin which shone brightly.
“So,” started the boy. “What brings you to Lumiose City?”
“What?” she asked sounding somewhat dazed. “Oh, right! I’m hoping to meet Kalos’s famous actress! I heard she’s visiting a café not too far from here. If I’m quick, I can get there before the crowds. You should totally come see if you can meet her!”
“Really?” asked David as she grabbed his arm and began hurriedly maneuvering him down the street and away from Professor Sycamore’s lab. “Okay! I’ll come. Why do you want to meet this actress?”
“She uses a Gardevoir,” replied the girl simply. “A native Pokémon to the Hoenn region, it took a while for trainers to realize it was actually a Psychic/Fairy-type once research on the newly discovered type began. People used to think my Jigglypuff was just a pure Normal-type. I’m glad they were wrong about it. Anyways, I was hoping Diantha would allow me to see her partner.”
“Okay then,” said David loud enough for the Pokémon trailing behind him to hear. “I guess we are going to meet a famous actress.”
“Alright,” said Bailey while dragging the boy across the street to the blaring horn of a blue taxi. “She’s supposed to be at the Café Soleil which should be … just … about … Here!”
David and Bailey entered the café in question to a very tangible tension in the air. Two people were arguing loudly while the rest of the people within the café seemed to be shrinking away from them. The owner of the café was absently wiping his rag around the inside of a cup while his full attention was on the people in the middle of his quaint little place.
One was a woman dressed mostly in white with faded brown hair which bordered on gray. Bright blue eyes which glowed in passion glared down at the man before her, even though he was taller than her. There was no doubt in David’s mind that this was Diantha. She had an aura of sorts about her which commanded confidence and determination. She was not someone he wanted to get on the bad side of.
David felt a jolt when he recognised the man as Lysandre. His black suit made him a complete contrast to Diantha’s white and gold attire. His expression and posture told of a man who had gone through years of frustration and suffering.
“… as a young girl on the silver screen was such an inspiration,” Lysandre was saying as David’s Pokémon filed in behind him and Bailey. “Wouldn’t you rather retain that youth and beauty and forever play such inspiring roles?”
The glare settled on him immediately changed into the gentle calmness of a teacher telling a student he was wrong without actually insulting him about it.
“What a strange question…” Diantha started with thoughtfulness filtering into her calm tone. She began playing with the charm on her necklace while she paced around the café. “Although acting young and beautiful girls was a lot of fun, it’s not all there is to acting. If you do the same thing day in and day out, it gets very boring very quickly. That’s why I welcome the changes that come with age. True, I may not be as beautiful as I once was, but I don’t need to be to be the kind of actress I take pride in being. I look forwards to playing new roles of which I couldn’t play before.”
“As a movie star it should be your duty to remain beautiful and move the multitudes with your excellent acting!” exclaimed Lysandre as he stepped towards her as if to follow her pacing. “You’ve dedicated your life to making other people happy with the stories you help tell.”
Whatever the actress had been about to reply with was cut short before it could leave her lips as a body hurled itself through the window. It collided with Diantha and knocked her back into Lysandre. The man tried to catch her, but was knocked over as well into a sprawled pile of limbs.
A gasp ran through the café from the onlookers. No one moved as the three people struggled on the ground to get up.
“Who in their blooming right mind would put a dummy mannequin in a perfectly good window?!” exclaimed Max as he straightened his hat and managed to pull himself off the other two. “Oh! Hiya David! I thought I saw you coming in here.”
“You know his guy?” asked Bailey in a mix of disgust, shock and horror.
“Max,” said the boy as David helped him up. “Pleased to meet you.”
“Diantha!” exclaimed the girl as she ignored Max and helped the actress up. “Are you alright?”
Once on her feet, the actress brushed herself off. “I’m fine dear, but I do not appreciate being called a ‘Dummy’.”
Both the woman and the girl shared a glare in Max’s direction. The looks went unnoticed by the boy as his full attention was on the tall man getting to his feet.
“You’re Lysandre,” said the boy in a tone that hinted towards that fact being a bad thing. “The owner of Lysandre Labs and creator of the Holo Caster app.”
“Indeed I am,” stated the man with a sneer. No doubt he had picked up on Max’s condescending tone. “What of it?”
“Your app sucks,” replied Max with a simple shrug as though it was no big deal. “You won’t catch me using it in a million years. I prefer to actually talk to my friend instead of hiding being some fancy shmancy hologram.”
“How …” started Lysandre with his low eyebrows even lower. “Disappointing. I would argue for all the good it can do with allowing you to connect and easily talk to people you care about, but I feel I would be wasting my breath. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have far better things I can be doing.”
The man pushed past David and the Pokémon gathered outside the café and disappeared into the streets of Lumiose City.
“I had hoped to point out to him that true beauty isn’t what you see on the outside before I was rudely interrupted,” stated Diantha with a stern look at Max. “I guess it can wait for another time. Who might you young trainers be?”
“I’m Bailey,” started the girl immediately. “And this is my friend David. I don’t know who this is, but David seems to have met him before.”
“Max,” repeated the boy while addressing Bailey and rendering Diantha all but invisible. “Pleased to meet you.”
The girl sniffed and didn’t reply.
“Bailey and David, such lovely names,” said Diantha while reserving only a slightly raised eyebrow in his direction to acknowledge Max. “You much be exceptional trainers with how happy your Pokémon look.”
David hid a snort as he was sure his Pokémon, along with Bailey’s Jigglypuff and Swablu and Max’s Luxio, looked more on the shocked stunned side over the proceeding events rather than happy.
“I’m a Trainer myself when I’m not needed for acting,” Diantha continued. “We should have a battle someday!”
Without awaiting a reply from either of them, the actress swept gracefully out of the café.

Talon's Rules
1. All Pokemon (with maybe the exception of your starter if you so wish) must have been obtained within a Wonder Trade upon starting the game.
2. You have six slots in your party. You must have three pokemon you can interchange per slot. Pokemon from the same group slot can never be in your party at the same time. Only one per group slot at a time. You will have a grand total of eighteen pokemon as part of your team.
3. If a Pokemon should faint, it is considered "DEAD" and must be either released or placed in the PC. Once all three pokemon from a group slot have fainted, you can only use five pokemon at a time.
4. No buying items (with the exception of the Poke Balls used to aid you in your Wonder Trade). All items are found in the region (or if you are super lucky, you may be able to rely on a pokemon whose ability is Pick Up as I have). Buying TMs in the Shop is the exception.

Poor Max. Good guy, but he somehow manages to get on the bad sides of both Diantha and Lysandre at the same time XD
