Despite taking a peek of some sprite sheets I was given by 
let and even checking the wikia page where this guy comes from, I feel like I might've gone the opposite way in terms of "true to original design". Then again, I was peeking more of the artwork as found in the said wikia page instead...
Anyho, what we have here is Zaluga, the strong red salamander warrior from the Valis series of games. Unfortunately, being a fellow from the early days of gaming, he doesn't exactly have that much of a background to him besides being a general/mook to the first game's main antagonist. He does attempt to steal the Valis sword from the playable heroine in the second game, but that goes as much as you'd expect, with what him being a first level boss.
...this of course doesn't stop me from giving him the needed empowering treatment that he should've had instead, since I'm a sucker like that~ >B3~
