The heroes beat Akkadian by finding out his real name and using it to break his powers. They chose not to kill him and sent him away, penniless and bereft of all his favors and treasures. So, the entire reappearance of Akkadian here is one big revenge story. A slow burn in the background of the other events of the comic until they led up to the climax.
As an amusing aside, I always imagined his voice sounding like the late, great voice actor Tony Jay (who did Megabyte, Shere Khan, Chairface Chippendale, and many many more).

I can see why you chose Tony Jay, because I believe he also did the voice of Anubis in Gargoyles.
Tyr did something awhile back saying who would voice your character, and I said Tony Jay as well, because of the actual background of him. Sadly, was disapproved (>.>), but I stand by it.
But I can see where Goyuchi means Tim Curry. Its really amazing how these two guys are remembered so well for playing villians, and doing it well.
