I'm going to the EF tomorrow, but my travel started today, as the plane take off from Roissy Charles de Gaulle to Berlin early in the morning.
Because Paris is such a central hub, there is no direct, train to train connection between the Mans line and the line to Roissy.
So I had to take the Parisian metro, whcih got me the dubious pleasure to see those old metro cars. Those are the ones on the Ligne 6, and are the oldest on the Parisian network, being put on tracks between 1959 and 1967.
As you can see, they aren't on metallic wheels but on tires, which is kind of an oddity today.
I hope o have a more significant picture tomorrow, probably more than one, BTW.

The Parisian network is an extensive, mostly outdated (it's mostly 100 years old after all) mess of various experiment.
The problem with those on-tires lines is that the rails, still existing for maintenance machines, haven't been used intensively for regular traffic for years, so they are afraid that they will have to replace them all if they remove the tire cars. Especially since those rails were lastly using in the 50's, and that the traffic on the whole Parisian metro at the time was likely smaller than the traffic on this lina alone today!
Plus there is more serious priorities on the whole network.
Also because of the size of the 70 to 100 yers old tunnels, they can not buy any "knock-off" cars, they have to make special orders.
There is one order for replacing those ones, that should arrive in 2016/2017... But it will onl push ou he older MP-59 out of the rails, and there will still be many a bit more modern MP67 and MP73 (the number is the year ) car running on the tire lines.

Ah, interesting information! Let's hope they'll build faster in the coming years, then...
