My second attempt at a redesign for my Charmander-self. ^w^
I have ditched the bandana. I dunno. I was starting to feel like it was kinda just there. I mean, I do love bandanas a lot! But I couldn't help but feel kinda generic with it. I did think of adding goggles, since I love those a lot too. But in the end, I decided all I really wanted, was to just be a Charmander. And hey, still got the shorts! Love the shorts! So hopefully that helps me stand out somewhat, lol
But since blue I feel was a color which represented me, I still wanted to have blue somewhere on me. I decided since I had a thing for blue flames (love them!), that I'd turn my flame tail blue. But I also decided to go the extra mile, and turn my whole tail blue, with a white underside to it~ ^w^
Part of this inspiration is due to my Sonas being capable of multi-colored flame magic. But also thanks to my recent creation of my blue fiery Shadox form. Many thanks also goes to Shadox creator
Charem =D
So yeah, here I am~ New design. Jumping up with enthusiasm and ready to kick butt!! ^^
I was thinking of maybe going for a less abstract and nature setting for the background (being a big nature lover myself). Initially, the background was just green. But then a friend of mine jokingly suggested that I make the background "the fiery pits of Hell" lol. And my answer to that joke was to goof off and airbrushed a bunch of red in the back, lol. But surprisingly, I felt the red contrasted nicely with the whole drawing! So I kept it. xD Plus, while abstract, it still sorta looks nature-like I think? With the green. And the red kinda looking like clay.
This is also the first drawing I have drawn with actual pressure sensitivity. I was kind of dumb these last several months. I drew with a tablet, using PaintTool SAI, on my Mac OS X 10.9.5. And that did not grant me pressure sensitivity. I was told to adjust SAI's stabilizers and settings. But that still didn't work. Though assuming I was "blind" to the "obvious," I just assumed it did work, and that I was just not very skilled at drawing. Thus, my last several drawings all had stiff solid lines (makes me sad, considering what they could've been. Ah well). So yeah, I recently realized all this. DERP. And I tried figuring out how to fix the problem (technology being dumb). After 3 straight days of tinkering, no success. So instead, I decided to draw the lines back on Photoshop CS4 (which does have pressure sensitivity for me!), and then do the coloring and stuff on PaintTool SAI. And this drawing here is the first result of that.~
Drawing with pressure sensitivity is amazing. But definitely will take some practice and getting used to. Gotta learn where pressure should be applied, what body parts or lines require drawing lightly, or more heavily, what techniques to use, and I contemplate if some lines should be made up of a bunch of smaller lines, or if they should be one single big line. Learning more on shapes and anatomy and perspective too.
I'm also practicing more on my lighting and shading. Trying to draw more crazy shapes for the shading. As they really hug around the figure, and heck, even draw some of the lines (some "invisible") as well!

You can always change your character as long as you end up happy with the result. I mostly take such sort of changes just like how people change the hairstyle or style of clothes at times. It's the personality that shows who you are anyways. Interesting ideas. Wonder if Alex' parents or the one who taught him to do the 'Fire Magic' are responsible for him having a different Dragon tail of sorts. I guess he can cast spells simply by swaying his tail in a specific fashion. =3
As for the artwork, I think the claws on Alex' handpaws might be in a little stiff or cramped position yet plus his body stance seems a bit shifted too much to the right but except that it's good. Looking like quite the big Charmander boy and I can't say why but I feel reminded of "Tom Sawyer" whenever I see him in his trousers. X3

I agree Marc! Looks can always change, but the personality is always there~ ^w^
Y'know, now that you mention it, I've come up with no stories as to why my tail would be blue, or how I learned some of my sorcery. O= I like the whole tail swaying concept though! That sounds really cool! This'll definitely give me something to think about! The possibilities are endless! =D
Yeah, the paws were a bit awkward to draw with the pressure sensitivity. So that definitely needs work. Especially when trying to form a fist with them. xD I tried having the fingers thinner on the tips, and thicker in the back, but yeah. xD Actually, I think an issue might be they're a bit too big maybe? I know Charmanders generally have small hands. But my mind was so wrapped up in trying to draw fists, lol.
Yeah, I was a afraid the right side might've looked a bit awkward. It was hard trying to get his arm punching up in the air, lol. xD The shoulder portions are always kinda tricky for me. Since that's where the arms "connect" to the head and body.
Thanks for the critique Marc! Really appreciate it!! ^___^

Hehe, I have to say I love the cute blue tail~ Very sexy indeed ^^
I am curious about your magic abilities as for how they work hehe.
I still love those trousers of yours too~ Love seeing such a big chubby bellied charmander in those tight looking trousers <3
Just might need to take those off when I see ya again big boy~
