Um.. A cage..
So my friend messages me asking me if I would like a big cage and me never saying no to a large free cage I said sure.
This... Is a VERY VERY!!! poorly bilt cage!! I'm sorry but.. It's made out of cheap doors and what looks like dollar store stick on laminate flooring... The best thing about it is it has plexie glass doors.. The rest of it is junk!!
If your going to build a cage spend the money on good wood NOT what ever you can find in a junk yard or a yard sale.. Your keeping living animals in this cage for hours or days on end... Think about it..
Water proofing
If you wish to water proof your cage go to your hardware store and find the big rolls of laminit floreing sometimes you can buy a 8ft by 30ft rolls for a good price but you can also find someone to help you cut a 8ft by what ever you need off the big rolls and they come in a few different shades and patterns so pick the one you like best!
Once that is all in find out where abouts your track is going to go I recommend having the track sit on a strip of wood the same with as your track to keep your animal from pushing on the glass or slaming anything into it. But if you do not want to do it that way you can alwas put a strip of wood infront of the track again it helps anything from slaming into it and you can put more bedding in there with out it all going into the track.
Be sure you get some good sealer for the lineing of the inside of your cage this will help any spills or messes your animal makes from getting to any exposed wood in the cage. Also get some good bathroom sealer and once its on keep the doors off to air out for two weeks if you can have a fan pointed at it to help it air out.
Cage doors.
There are many ways you can put doors on your cage I personally like the slideing doors easer to clean and easy to put in.
You will need to find a place that sells track make sure its a double so you can have two sheets of glass or plexie glass on it be sure to ask for a top and bottom track as well as the top is bigger then the bottom.
Once you got it you will need some REALLY strong glue to hold it in place.
Never nail it or screw it down! It can catch the glass and stop it from opening or shader your glass!
If you have any questions feel free to message me! I am happy to help any way I can :)
You can also find very helpful videos on YouTube on building cages! Best of luck!!
