Dan Slott and I had worked together in the '90's at Marvel. Now it was 2001. We were both working for DC, but mostly on separate stories. We were still trying to pitch projects that would make more work for ourselves, plus let us work together again.
This idea was called "Curio City", and it was in a way a throwback to the older DC "Mystery" comics. The set-up was sort of like "Night Gallery" except that the framing sequences would take place in a pawn shop. Our host Kat would point out an object on the shelf and then tell a scary story about it. Too bad they didn't go for it. I think it would've been fun.
