Friendships come and go
Changing as the seasons change
Trying to hold onto them
By a single thread
Stuck with scissors in hand
Some choices in the other
How can I
Make you smile
Maybe I just never learned to fly
With these black tattered wings
I was not able to keep up with you
Those brilliant white wings
I still have what I love most
A pearl almost as broken
As I was
Maybe even less so
Though I still find myself
Waking up every morning
Looking at those scissors for an excuse
To cut my own again
Changing as the seasons change
Trying to hold onto them
By a single thread
Stuck with scissors in hand
Some choices in the other
How can I
Make you smile
Maybe I just never learned to fly
With these black tattered wings
I was not able to keep up with you
Those brilliant white wings
I still have what I love most
A pearl almost as broken
As I was
Maybe even less so
Though I still find myself
Waking up every morning
Looking at those scissors for an excuse
To cut my own again
