At Anthrocon on Thursday night or so, I decided (under the poor condition of rushing) that I needed to have at least one more piece of art up. So, for a few hours, in the lobby tables of the Westin, I worked with pastels and turned out this. Rather large, dimensions approximately ...uh, well I forgot but let's say that no laptop that has ever existed could completely cover it, it's about that big. I'll get dimensions later.
I really REALLY enjoyed experimenting with lighting the edges of the skin, and picking a light source, and being gentle with the blushes of color on top of the greys, I really felt like I was drawing from warmly lit real creature feet instead of out of my imagination. :}
I wanted to and needed to draw something that I liked and was familiar with. So a pair of paws appeared. They are faint and grey blue and sort of ethereal, and for the effort put in I think it was okay. Relaxed body, slouched paws. There are fine pastel blendings and details that can't be appreciated digitally, and the light was not good for this when i took the photo. Assuredly, if you were to buy this you'd have a visual feet treat. :)
This artwork was for sale, $30 initially, sold at $20 final. Enjoy. :)
Pastel on paper, approx. 1.75 x 2 feet (I think....)

Thank you, I'm kinda proud of them. <: I wonder what the people who were gaming and doodling and having dinner beside me thought of them. A good many people went by in the refinished lobby there, it was quite comfortable to do art there surprisingly. It was good times doing it there you know, though I was alone. I was surrounded by freaks and fun people, just lounging there as if it was someone's giant home. And there was a neat atmosphere of chill, doing whatever everyone wants, but we're all doing it furrily. And that was neat. :>
Thank you. It isn't apparent, but this actually could have been worked on much more. With more skill, this could be an absolutely grabbing piece of color and light, instead of the quick kinda faint coloring here. It could be even brighter and deeper and richer. :> I'm glad you like.
Oooh... very lovely warm tones, and soft but vivid details. The mid-sole detail is incredible; so many lovely wrinkles. And it's a near contrast in how that mid-sole detail smooths out in the ball pad and toes, but then is made sharp and stark again in the claws. Very lovely piece Kurra. I shall mention it as an item up for sale in tomorrow's Paw-Post (along with appropriate tame-commenting-only tags). :) Well done sir.
You neeeeed to see this in person, you need to you need to. The details are partly real and partly an illusion-- I had lots of fun discovering and disguising inaccurate strokes as fine details. :> Thank you, I am really glad you like it! Oh and thank you for the mention o///o it helps much. And is very negotiable. *bows* :> *hugs* *lifts a gray pastel sole into your palm, very relaxed and loose and hand-filling* :>
Arg... I wish I could - I know that all too often, the subtle details of a traditional piece are completely lost or fudged over in a digital copy, particularly with FA's heavy compression tendencies. And dawww. *lifts the sole to his face, and sighs happily at being able to admire one of the most beautiful of things in the universe so very closely* ^_^
