Who are you, and why is it so important to you to complain about this? I find myself curious.

I'm not really into the whole fat thing (At times. Hell, my closest friend is a fat fur himself. I even admit I've been trying to get into the thing for my friend). No one really explained to me what is appealing about the whole...fat fur thing. I mean, I don't hate it, but I could never understand it. It's appealing at times, even maybe a bit creepy (no offense). I even was going to give my character a redesign with a bit of a belly going on...but...I'm not sure on doing such a thing, and how others will think of me, and etc...etc... XP

I guess that's one advantage to having fat. Though I still find it...kind of odd, to be honest. I should speak for myself though since I have cuddled with one before. >.> <.< I just have my limits on how big and fat some are though...^^;

Well the appeal cant really be explained except maybe that there IS a base focus of humans on "shapey" forms and some just like them FAR bigger than usual (me included ^..^)

Well, I admit, I show some real liking to the Muscle fur concept. Though in terms of height...not anymore (used to be into the whole Macro thing but got away for...reasons). I guess when it comes down to it, I guess the real thing about me not understanding is because I haven't fully grasped the whole thing about it. To be truthful, before I was a furry, I found Fat dragons to be cute...then when I became a Furry...kind of took things the wrong way (and saw some things that creeped me out no offense). I'm liking it in SOME ways now...like...I guess it can be comfy to rest on someone's stomach...minus the noise inside them (kind of disturbing), but other than that...hard to say. ^^;

I feel the simplest reason that might help you understand is that fat is a metaphor of fertility. I feel it is a part of our evolution that we would feel more attracted to the one who is more successful. Thinking back to cavemen, one would be more interested in one who is large because it shows he has got a lot of food and a heavily muscled means he is a great protector but a skinny starving caveman shows he cannot hunt very well. That is the theory

I kind of see the fat appeal or..better put..the not "rock hard muscle" pictures as more realistic. this fandom is based on fantasy, but within fantasy i still enjoy a little realism. society in general has more average to heavy people, rather than six pack ab weilding muscle jocks. muscles can be sexy, but if proportioned correctly, those that are all muscle...not so much. at the other end of the spectrum, something that looks like a balloon isnt overly appealing either. i have a bit of a belly on me, as does my character. I prefer him to be a proper representation of me. having something that is superlean and ultra fit when the real person is about as large as the furs in this banner...i dont agree with that. ...i'm going off my point here sorry v_v i see the appeal and love of fat furs, is because as mentioned, they're snuggly. and when trying to be close, they're not all angles and bones. they're a comfortable safe zone. i'll agree with ya tho...some belly noises can be odd and offputting sometimes.. anywho, i'll stop rambling now, happy holidays

I mean, a pudge or a bit of roundness is fine, but something up to the banners level or even going to be so fat and macro is where I draw the line sometimes, especially when it goes into the mega level (seen in outerspace). I admit, that I have a bit of a stomach going on myself in terms of real life, but I didn't mean too really. I plan to lose it soon enough. I guess when it comes to muscles, I don't really mind, but I kind of like it when fat is in terms of proportional.

You know what? I think this website is the most peaceful out of all the websites i have ever layed eyes on. People are always nice and there are hardly any "haters" that say rude things about other peoples' fetishes or sexual identities. i mean, there will always be at least one rude person (always) but over all, we all understand eachother prety well by "talking it up". it's awsome. Logged on FA today and saw this. Have to say, the best banner ever made. Why is there an uproar about it? What people don't see is that it's Thanksgiving, the fattest day of the year and this fits the theme well.
Besides Thanksgiving, isn't the only holiday like this. It's a chain, Halloween candy, Thanksgiving Turkey, Christmas sweets and cookies. Basically, it's my favorite time of year.

Hmm..my honest opinion is that it's the easiest fetish to apply to current social standards. There are plenty of other fetishes to get squicked over, but we don't often see people publicly sticking their fingers down their throat to vomit, or being human urinals/toilets in public bathrooms. And people do pick on other fetishes..it's just easier to fall back on grade-school levels of maturity when it's insulting "fatty-fat-fat-McFatso!" than it is to pick on someone who likes Tiny Toons or Sonic porn.
This is quite an awesome and sexy banner... but there is too many people who have a problem with it seems: On Furaffinity, a place that should have people that know better and are not like Encyclopedia Dramatica groupies... this place should have people that know better, but why not?

Its a nice piece. The content isnt my thing but its still relevant to the holiday.
My only issue with it is it doesnt really make sense. A single meal (even a very large one) wont make someone exceedingly fat. It might make them very bloated, but the stomach would be the only large part, the rest of the limbs would be normal size. I mean, you can say its fantasy all you want, but fantasy still has some basis in reality... so when I see things like this, I just cant really get behind them at all...

I have to agree with you. I just...don't really see what the big deal is.

In world where there is extreme fat hatred and oppression, this will happen. THIS is why I am fighting to end the oppression, chaos, and hate... It MUST end, because it is just dividing us for no good reason. The doctors and scientists have started this, the weight loss companies wanting to profit from this started this; it's a viscious cycle of oppression that began with black people, then gay people, and now fat people. Fat furs are no different, they are technically people that look like animals. All that remains after the oppression is fear, misunderstanding, and hysteria...
Wether it is healthy or not, beautiful or not, or whatever; it is all subjective... there is only one constant I have learned in life, and it is human rights... everything else if folly for all I care.

Please, 12 and under children might not even know what the word means, so they'll just look at it, probably stare for a while and then move on. Nothing. Will. Happen.
The difference is that they're not a group of people(with loud voices) fetish or squick. They're banners that pay FA money to be there. The big thing is alot of people didn't wanna see that on the front page when it loaded up and they voiced their thoughts.

So'k no harm... when i look at drama things like this i usually grab people for conversation anyways. There are very few things that offend me on the internet nowadays (besides blatant RL theft, lying, and stealing). I like round bellys but not the rest of the stuff portrayed but thats off topic.....the whole thing is fetishes are supposed to be things we keep to ourselves and only share with people we know like them....the banner wouldn't have been a problem if it was alot less realistic.

I'm not a huge (pun intended!) fan of overly fat fat furs, but seriously... what's there to get offended about? The banner is totally G-rated, well drawn, and humourous.

Sorry if this is going to be negative post from me, but I try to be polite as possible.
Firstly: Knowing me, I'm a "hater" towards fat and inflation stuff, so I rarely come into peoples pictures and comment stuff that has something to do with the said fetish. But who am I to control peoples minds? I ain't trying to be a bitch if people I meet/talk are into them.
The pictures coloring is nice and well done, more professional-level than mine as always, Dan. But the banner gives most of the dramatizers the note that FA is meant for Fat fetished furry lovers, none else. It's like, "commersializing without no thoughts that you'd accidently even do it at all", no offence. Just like JayTanoshi up there wrote, I never come to understand the fetish type, but then after all, how can we explain it more betterly than just with "I just like it" ?
To be honest, even I have that annoying feeling in me to complain at you the following: "Why did you have to make them *SO* overweight? Why not just a gut hanging a bit from fullness?" It's just a disturbing feeling in me wich I want to let out, but it would let out a bit more more drama ensuing from either side: either those who likes it and defenses the pic you made or from those who dislikes it fuckload of lot and offensivily mentiones it.

Treating a different opinion should be treated the same on both side; if you don't like it, you don't have to be a total jerk about it and say it in a more constructive manner. You have made a fair enough point. I took a decent look at the picture and it does seem to be edited. Thank you for having the guts to give a CRITIQUE. It is something that many art sites are sorely lacking. I may not agree with how you worded it, but your point is undeniable.
The plates do look out of place. They are not shaded in the same manner as the rest of the picture. I realize that they are supposed to be shiny, but they have no shadows whatsoever. The artist has proven in other submissions that they are indeed capable of shading plates properly. The cast shadow on the floor is also shaped like something other than a cylinder.
If you intend to put a FOV blur on something, make it look huge and absurdly close. I would think we should only be seeing the top of a turkey leg with that level of blurring. The turkey is not close enough to the viewers to justify using the effect.
The turkey has no highlights. Why would the turkey have no highlighting whatsoever, when everything else has highlights? If we are to believe the turkey is delicious it should look meaty and juicy. We should be able to see the texture of the skin and any glaze, judging by how close the artist wants it to appear. Detail does more to describe distance than anything else.
There is too much candy on the floor. I could understand some being there and lots of crumbs, but it seems like too much is easily identified as candy for it to work how the artist wants.
(Unfortunately for every decent argument against the banner -like yours- there are ten leaping idiots going "OMG FATURS ARE ICKY", "OMG THIS IS PRONZ BECAUSE THEY IS NEKKID", and the like.)

Fat is a beautiful thing, and though some cannot understand that, or agree with it, fine...but obesity exists, and it's high time the general population stopped focusing on it's negative aspects and just took it for what it is...another physical form which *GASP!* some may actually be attracted too.

I'm unsure of what the policy of speech might be in other lands, but here on the Internet, it should be just as free for everyone involved...

I'm not into fat stuff fetish-wise, but I appreciate how difficult it is to draw. That is, as compared to like inflation where it's just a balloon with feet, hands and a head... realistic fat is -very- difficult to achieve properly. Not to mention it amuses me, in a kid-watching-a-funny-fat-guy-in-a-cartoon-wobbling-around sort-of tee-hee way. So I can appreciate it in a humorous and artistic sense. It's very well-done, rather cute and amusing - although it's not nearly as amusing as the ridiculous amount of people taking it so seriously. :)
I've read the forums... I've seen every banner pretty much since FA returned a few years back and... WHAT IN THE FUCKING HELL IS EVERYONE COMPLAINING ABOUT?! There have been more damn fetishes in that banner than there are probably furries in the fucking fandom, and yet this 1 time there has to be a flame war to rival the PS3 vs 360 arguement. It made me chuckle and then smile when I first saw it, as it seems quite appropriate to the holiday, but the drama-explosion that accompanied it in the journals caught me off-guard. See something people seem to fail to understand is every artist has his or her style there is no correct or incorrect. If something is horribly drawn I usurally jsut post some constructive criticism. This is the fuss I missed? This is the submission that granted so many people to pull the baw-bus into town? You have the two mascots looking so hugely stuffed, the smooshy/soft look is wonderful, the size is really cute since it's not only a food stuffing holiday but you have even Halloween candy showing that they must have made a killing Trick-or-Treating (awesome throw in there by the way), and the coloring and theme is just so damn good....

I must admit. This is very awesome. I laughed when i saw this. Unfortunately, I missed it as the banner for the day (had too much going on and no internet). Still it's a bit true. Its not only considered Turkey day or thanksgiving, but it's also "fat" day. You stuff your face, and this banner picks it out correctly. I like it and I thought it was funny. Once again, I like the attention to the details, especially in the text. Although the plates could have used a little greese adn grime to really give it that used look.

I liked this banner. :3 I didn't even know that others fur was getting rubbed the wrong way. Boy, was it a LONG scroll down here though.
Actually, when I saw this banner I thought nothing of it as a fetish. I am aware of the fetishes on this site, and they aren't my cup of tea, but still. I saw this picture and was reminded of over exaggeration with food weight I used to see in old cartoons. Which is fitting for this Thanksgiving picture. It made me giggle.

Only a year and some months late to the show... it amazes me how people completely failed to get the joke in their zeal to be trollish or hate on what they perceive as a fetishy piece.
This is the FA banner that's given me the biggest laughs. not just in its intrinsic humor, but in its ability to draw out some of the silliest trolls I've seen in ages. Great stuff!

I can't help but laugh at the initial reaction; this site has pretty much been a fetish hub since the beginning. Was bitching that it was fetish-y alone going to have any ground to stand on?!
