Founded during the civil war, Fort Dupont remained in operation through World War 2, and was closed at the end of 1945. After that the property became a home for children with disabilities. The place became infamous for its cruel treatment of its patients and closed in the mid 1980's. Today part of the property is a VA hospital, drug rehab center, and space to sell off state property. But many buildings have sat abandoned ever since.
These houses are just numbered, with no signs saying what they were.
