Fixed this ol' classic dish... somethin' m'mom used ta make fer her litter'a pups way back when...
A nice batch'a scalloped potato casserole!
Now mind ya this is basically yer usual scalloped potato dish... jus' done in a way that may be different than how it may've been served... the ingredients may vary slightly dependin' on yer preferences but I'll share with y'all what went inta this particular batch :)
ingredients:
8 white potatoes
2lbs. of lean ground beef
1lb. of Jimmy Dean's mild sausage
1 can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup
Shredded cheese blend (cheeses picked fer yer preferences but fer this batch I used fiesta)
Nature's Seasonings
garlic powder
onion powder
parsley
directions:
1. Peel and then slice potatoes into thin slices then set aside.
2. In a large fry pan fry up the hamburger and sausage until browned (add seasonings to taste if preferred)
3. in a large measuring cup empty 1 can of the mushroom soup then thin with a can full of water, stirred into the soup.
4. Preheat oven to 350degrees then in a large casserole dish ya wanna layer the ingredients, placing a thick layer of potatoes on the bottom first, season ta preferences, then pour half the soup on this, add a layer of the ground beef/sausage blend then add the shredded cheese.
repeat this layer step until dish is full (usually you will have some leftovers ingredients after the 2nd layer which may be used in other dishes)
place in oven and let bake for 1hour at 350... after than I reduced the heat to 250c fer an additional 30 mins. after judgin' how brown the top layer of cheese looked then after that I turned the oven off an let this 'heat cook' for an additional 30mins. jus' ta make sure it was done.
So yeah this dish isn't one'a yer 'quicker-fixer-upers' since it takes almost 3 hours but it does provide ya with a deliscious meal that'll feed an army if ya got critters with large appetites... an like I said it was/is an ol' family dish m'mom used ta make ta fill the bellies'a her litter'a pups that'cha can make large quantities of on a low budget so if ya ever wanna give this a try then by all means go fer it an I hope ya like how it turns out fer ya :)
