Seriously, though, Ms. Rousey's fighting ability aside, can we stop pretending that it is somehow special that she claims she can beat a guy, any guy, under circumstances ill-suited to his martial discipline? Women have been in martial arts and the military for decades now; the idea of women besting men in physical contests has lost its novelty.

"And you could beat her in a spelling bee. What's her point?"
"Why? Did he tell her that it's not 1950 anymore?"
"I'd tell her to try me next, but she'd be spooked by my masculine bone density."

I suspect part of it is due to the fact that alot of guys still seem to operate under the mistaken belief that woman = weak, and therefore despite being a skilled combatant, would not be able to hold her own regardless of circumstances. It's idiotic, but I've met too many people who DO seem to think it's still the 1950s. Either that, or it's just Rousey trying to work up some extra heat.
