This is Gyo the merman (he has both male and female genitalia but prefers masculine pronouns) and is in a few of Trek's classes. He can maintain a human form but turns back into a merman when completely submerged or doused in water (a little rain won't affect him).
When Trek first meets him he thinks he's the only other human in the university and Gyo goes along with it because he's shy around land-dwellers.
