I also did a repaint of a Twilight Sparkle figure, thought that didn't seem to fit with the furry theme, here's a link if you're curious.

Almost the entire figure was customized besides the arms the whole figure was changed, since i couldn't remove the skirt i had to change the pattern on it.
The hair (the one she comes with) was used for her tail thought i'm not sure how to make it "puffy" it still look fine, the hair (on the head) it really heavy to the point its almost impossible to keep the figure standing luckily i have spare stands so no problem.
