The head for my premade feathered raptor suit is now done. All I have left to do now is the body suit. This head features a custom resin blank and jawset, and a custom foam tongue, all sculpted and molded by me. The eyes are crocodile-pattern taxidermy eyes with black epoxy-clay eyelids. The base skin is charcoal-grey lycra/polyester blend with scales made of vinyl upholstery fabric in the same color. The feathers fade from a strip of shaved black faux-fur into actual black craft feathers attached to the head via elastic bands. There is a zipper in the back, hidden by the feathers, and the mask holds tight to the wearer's head by a 5-point gas-mask harness.

Well, this was originally intended to be a pre-made fullsuit for sale. I had been planning to ask $2000 USD for the finished product due to the amount of labor going into all the feather and scale work. The issue I've run into, however, is that the feathers make parts of the suit relatively fragile compared to a more traditional fursuit. I'm alleviating this to an extent with the bodysuit part being more shaved-fur on the front torso and high-movement areas, but it's not the kind of suit you can roll around and roughhouse in without breaking the stems on a number of the feathers. It would also most likely require a full-time handler.
Now I'd still entertain the idea of selling this one when it's complete, but for now I'm leaning towards keeping it as a show-piece suit.
