Wow! The entire scene really captures the essence of Nanaki,
I mean he's passed the climb of the hill, and now even on the other side he's still in darkness.
And with his tail being the source of lighting, it's almost as though his tail is his past which drives him to better himself.
I hope that isn't too corny, but you did an amazing job on every fine detail here.
