Had to put my cat of 17 years down today due to a tumor in her intestines. She was an awesome cat who has been with me during a lot of tough shit in my younger years. After we moved to Texas things really got better for her. She wanted for nothing, and got everything she needed.
It's sad that she had to go, but she lived a full and happy life. Goodbye my good friend, you were awesome, and I am happy to have known you as long as I did.

When a pet has been around as long as that much you can celebrate the fact they lived a long and most likely a happy life. It gets hard not to see them anymore as I've had a few pass away a little close to or over that age. It gets a little easier with that comfort in how long they have been around.
Like you said her last few years she had to wait on nothing thus a happy life of a kitty. She is probably waiting at the rainbow bridge for you and watching over you until you two can reunite. Remember the happy times for they are what helps move on once a friend passes, especially if she was like a sister to you like mine was to me.
