spectrumshift made this thing using a ton of cloud photos I sent him for reference material. I explained this vision I had flying home from FC last year, where the plane was approaching a cloud bank and I imagined Rooth walking through it as the plane passed by beside him, his lower half obscured by the thick clouds. Then as the plane overtook him (because planes are damn fast yo), I looked back at the edge of the cloud bank and imagined Rooth walking through the edge of it, full figure revealed, his legs and feet still in the shadow of the bank.I guess what I was thinking was that the distance from cloud to ground, when seen from a plane so high up, seems far more trivial than it does from the ground. But we all have a sense of how high it is, and how small we are on the ground, and so seeing a mega macro at such a size that leverages that sensation to project scale and enormity .. would be pretty incredible.
I get a lot of macro pics that tap more common 'sensations' for scale, such as trees, houses, cars, streets, maybe mountains even. But beyond a certain size it's hard to really get anything more than, "Ok, that's just so ridiculously big, I can't relate." But anyone who has flown and looked out the window at cruising altitude can relate to this sort of scale.
Nice work, Xander. :) Thank you very much for the generous gift!
(FYI, I'm behind on my postings, but gift art gets bumped ahead of everyone)

LOL, "The People's Elbow". Rooth often does helpful things for people. There's a pic of Rooth'roo protecting a shoretown from a tidal wave. Get big enough, and disrupting a hurricane is not out of the question, but at that size, might he not cause tidal waves? And tornadoes ... he'd have to be inthe right place at the right time (or refine his portal tech).
IDK ... I think playing with weather is dangerous. What if that hurricane could be disrupted by a satellite laser pulse? Great, so it's disrupted, but maybe it reforms in an unpredictable way, or maybe it causes a drought somewhere. Messing with chaotic systems is a road paved with unintended consequences. ;) Although that wouldn't stop Rooth'roo from trying it. Shortsighted roo.
