Lately I've been going through my place, cleaning things up and finding stuff I've accumulated but never put on display. Among the "I really need to do something with this" candidates are these bits of hardware. So I just finished building a plaque I can mount them on. The thing is while I'm sure they're well secured to the thing I made, it's also fairly heavy and I'm not so sure I'll be able to mount it to a wall without screwing something up and have it crashing down and damaging my wall and anything else near by.
The sword is a two-hander with a 36" blade and a dragon hilt. It was a "display only" blade so it doesn't have much of an edge to it. I actually bought it from a sword swallower friend I knew from Battlebots. I did make a back sling harness to wear it to the Ren Faire before I got my twin sabers I use in my current kit.
The axe is a "spear axe" intended to be trusted like a short spear or short pike (not thrown), but can also be swung like a traditional double headed axe. The head is 12" tall and 10" wide and has a 36" long handle. Unlike the sword, the axe does have a sharp edge to it. Not razor sharp (though you could sharpen it) but it's still enough that you want to be careful and avoid handling it by the edge. While I did look into making a covering to wear it w/ my Ren Faire gear, I decided against it. The interesting note here is I originally got and used this as the "Thwacker" weapon of my v1 "WulfBane" Battlebot robot (it was mounted in a large metal pipe, so I didn't have to worry about the wooden handle).
And the shield was something I made for Halloween one year. I had taken my first (failed) attempt at a Warcraft 3 Shaman and made a barbarian out of it. Since I was going to a downtown multi-bar/multi-stage concert Halloween party event, I was using a plastic axe or sword for that. Silly thing is as much as these would all go together, they were all used for very different things.
