So recently
erin-cloverfox gave me permission to color some of his sketches if I wanted to. This is super exciting cause I can be all cool and color pictures for Erin and I can get practice with different coloring and shading...stuff.
Original Sketch: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17165022/
This was/is an adorable sketch Erin did for/of
codytehfox and
babybleu of the young fops helping the kyoot liddle draggy learn to an get to fly. This looks like so much fun! :-D
So I was super excited to try doing this little technique for pencil sketches to see if it could work for taking a pencil sketch and making it digital. Essentially I took the sketch and made all white be transparent. (Or turned to alpha) This made it so the entire sketch could be colored and given a new background. The issue came up with the fact that Gimp does such a good job detecting each line that it detects...every..little...dot. Hahaha so any little flake or scuff gets picked up. So I had to start off by going around and using the eraser tool to clear off any un-see-able marks that seem to come up along with other pencil marks. Though for some odd reason it seems like the eraser tool created new marks. It was bizzare. Compooters is weird! But anyways after clearing that I duplicated the picture (or layer) to thicken the lines. Sadly it pixelated some spots and made them a little blocky but not too bad. This gives me ideas for future attempts. :-D
Thank you Erin for letting me color your sketches, I appreciate it so extremely much and and I hope I did your sketch justice.
