A birthday present for
~ Antique! I actually had it sketched out and partially finished on her actual bday, which was the 26th. Finally finished it! I bit off a bit more than I could chew. I wanted to draw our couple Anima (the blue dragon) and Baden (the fallow deer). They are a super special, and meaningful couple. Those who know me and my characters know that Anima is very special… so of course he was paired up with Phee! ;3 She gets all my babehs. She of course had the perfect character for Anima, and the two of them compliment each other like nothing else.
Also, those that know Anima know he doesn't show a gentle-ness like this… well, ever. At least, not that you've ever seen. This is such a rarity, for him to be caught in a tender moment, but deep down in that dark scaly chest is some sort of heart. He loves Baden with every fiber of his being, and usual illustrates that in other ways than your typical idea of "love," but here he is being a big blue love bug.
I went a bit overboard here with their size difference. Anima is actually around 8 feet and Baden is like, 5'6" I think? So yeah this is giant beasty dragon Ani.
And Baden being a light purple made me just go "OH SHIT"
So since we had no art of them I had to fix that! Happy belated birthday my Phees!! Ilu times forever <3333

and i love the really exaggerated size dif! It really emphasizes Anima's gentleness with Baden.
++ their little complementary braids and flowers gooosh. and I really dig how the different tones of purple unify and yet make them distinct (Baden's dark royal to lavender fade, and Anima's mid-tone purple hair)
(also pretend i made some witty statement about how they can be horn/antler accessory buddies)

Oh thank you so much for noticing all of those things! You noticed the little braids, they are so little and the one on Ani is so fucked up idk wtf I was doing on that strand of hair, but alas it happened and I could not stop it, so thank you! And for noticing the various purples! I have quite a few purple markers (go figure) so I wanted to use various shades to make them stand out but balance each other at the same time. I also used colored pencils on this some for the first time in 10 billion years so I'm glad it looks ok.
Omg yes they are going to slowly out accessorize the world… this is part of why it takes me 10 years to draw Anima dammit.
