The Nord Aviation 3202 Master was a French military training aeroplane built by the SNCAN in the 60s. It was developped thanks to the French Army which wanted to replace its SV.4 Stampe, the first prototype, the N-3200, flew the 22 June 1954 and the second, the 3201, flew the 10 September 1954. After the test, the French Army asked to build a serial exemple from the N-3200, it was the N-3202 which flew for the first time in April 1957, the 6 may 1957, the French Army ordered 100 aircrafts, the first of the hundred left the factories of Méaulte in July 1959.
In a period where France was in the middle of the Algerian war, the demand in pilots for the ALAT increased and the N-3202 was most than welcome in the ES-ALAT, the Specialisation School of the Light Aviation of the French Army, and it became quickly the first trainer of those unities.
The N-3202 will serve for the formation of all the aircrafts of the ALAT at this time, the Cessna L-19 and the MH-1521 Broussard. During their time, thanks to their very good capacities of aerobatics, they were used for the presentation of the ALAT on the airshows and other meetings where they could show the talent of the French pilots between the hands of the instructor of the ES-ALAT. It's in 1978, since the ALAT abandoned the aircrafts for the helicopters, that the N-3202 was mothballed.
This exemple is registered F-AZIJ and has the serial number 82 and was built in 1961, it's powered by its original Potez 4D34D engine. After 1978, it certainly was sent in the US where it had the registration N2255Y until the 19 January 1989, when it was bought by a British which gave it the registration G-BRVA. I lost its track between 1993 and 1998, I just know that when it was bought by the association Nord & Co, it did not fly since 1995. In 1998, so, it was bought by the association Nord & Co and did its flight between the UK and France without problems in despite of its inactivity.
It was restored during 1 year and in 2000, it did its first season with 9 airshows. It's now one of the 8 last Nord 3202 which still able to fly at our time.
