Tinplate Transport: Meet Zeppo!

Took delivery of a Schylling Zeppelin Train on Saturday!
Alas, no key, so I couldn't fire little Zeppo up. Fortunately, a local clockmaker not only had a key that fit, it turned out to be a factory Schylling key which works perfectly!
As you can see, yon Zeppelin perambulates around the layout quite nicely!
I greatly fear I'm going to get into clockwork trains, now, too...

i dont have it in me too what a train set together like my late father had. Before he completely lost hes shit . He had built this huge set up. He basically dismantled everything. When we moved and found out he couldn't put anything together after we got here, where he was starting to lose it do too age. At some point what I did was put everything away so he could throw it out.add too it as I ended up with other train sets. People were getting rid of where they frankly didn't even realize what they had and after he passed away i sold it all too . A few people. When you add everything up. I made around 400 or 500.what i have now . I picked up a while back. It's just a starter set from the 80s or 90s with the box. Frankly don't know what it's even worth. i grabbed it so it would end up in the landfill I pack up and sell online quite a bit of things where people pass away or move in the area, and you tend to find things that certain people are looking for that are vintage.we have a old train station . They converted too a in and you should've seen the look on the owner face when I showed up with one of the old cast-iron luggage carts from the 1920's that belong to the station originally ;). It was part of a huge mass of stuff. I got where somebody threw everything out of a house ,most of it was all scrap metal and my brother cat trying to throw the card in with the scrap lol he basically had no idea what it even was. Frankly don't know how it got from the train station too . Somebody's private residence about half a mile away.the train station, I think Lowe's in the 70s and the guy bought it and turned it into a restaurant/in/tourist attraction.thay dont have ho gage addressed or I would've checked there long ago lol. You'd be surprised how many antiques i saced from the scrap over the years.
This looks sexy...and cute!
My uncle had a train set when I was a kid. I forget what scale they were. They were about eight inches long. He had it on top of a piece of plywood about as big as a pool table. I'm afraid I wasn't very kind to his train set. I got better about it later on. In the 90's when I was living with a friend I helped him make some indie films and one of the warehouses we were using as a studio/set was in the same building as the Rhode Island model train society. They had an entire section of the warehouse set up as a recreation of the state railroad system.
Every major landmark was represented. The thing that tripped me out was the part of the room representing the area I lived in. The house I grew up in was there and it was a pretty accurate representation. The amount of work and detail and creativity they put into their modeling was pretty impressive. I've been immersed in roleplaying games and video games and the feeling I had standing there in the middle of all that was similar. I felt like I was flying high above my home.
It was a pretty emotional day. I'd build my own train set if I could. I love trains-live right next to a little train station https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8442/.....0e8fd27d_b.jpg and hear them going by all the time. I just wish I knew more about them but I suck when it comes to being motivated to learn about stuff.

I know! It's adorable. The interior isn't exactly period-correct (it has a mix of stuff from the late 1800's when it was built to around the 1940's when it was last actively used as a working station) but overall it's got a ton of charm. I still need to take a trip on the Bertram County flyer (I love that our local train is called a flyer <3). As far as train sets go we have some here but we're trying to sell them. Money is pretty tight and we can't really afford to splurge on collectibles.
Personally I wish I had the skills to build stuff. I'd build a replica of the Ponyville express and have miniatures of all the major Equestrian cities.

What scale are the trains? I know
microbuss is always on the lookout for HO stuff, and I like Lionels... :)
And you don't need a collectable to have fun!
