Just a spot of Fanart. Generator Gawl is a rather underrated anime from back in the day. It might not be one of the greats, but there were things that really resonated with me, Heck, I got my screenname from one of the episodes of this series. ^^;;
Huh, never realized it before, but Gawl it just one motorcycle short of being a Kamen Rider. <.<

Interesting story, actually- the villain's plan was kinda like a cross between Terminator and Omega Boost. See, scientists discover something called 'enclude cells' that allow organisms to spontaneously TF into bio-mechanical creatures, called Generators. This leads to a tragedy, which leads to a Generator arms race, which leads a war, aaaaand bam! you got post apocalyptic future.
Thing is, the bad guys decide they can do better- and send their most advanced Generator back in time, to be 'discovered,' thus scientific and genetic advancement is doubled. So they send a More advanced Generator back in time, and repeat the cycle again and again, each timeline being created with more and more advanced Generators within the same period of time!
Well a couple of researchers find out what's happened, and decide this cycle is to terrible to allow to continue. There's also mention that humans in the future are evolving for the sake of genetic advancement, and survival, in such a way that love, compassion, and the very things that make us human, are being left by the wayside. (plus they're PROBABLY gonna break the space time continuum), So the two scientists take their research subject, Gawl, along with them to the past, and try to stop the discovery of Generators, altogether.
THUS, the main characters are fighting against their own fate- but in the end, the bad guys USE them to cause the very apocalypse they're trying to prevent! So it's a very 'break the cycle' kinda theme.
