Here abit of info on the species Larvemma are beings that are connected with spirits. The spirit lives inside the gemstones that are then "mounted" via a mask. By having these masks, they are able to receive guidance or power from these spirits.
Gemstones on a body part mean that the larvemma is now a "host" to the spirit. In some instances the spirit can take over the host body, while other times the spirit can transform the host ( ie, an animal form ). Generally wherever the gemstone is placed, it will increase their power ( ie. gemstone in eyes means amazing sight, or even the ability to see an opponents weakness, ect ) It is uncommon to have gemstones on the body.
