She's certainly up all night. Are you?
Anyway, I'm introducing a new character of mine that I've fallen in love with. Allow me to explain who she is with a little story. Buckle up your seat belts, boys and girls:
In ancient times, long since passed, on the island of Eire, there was once a woman who straddled the boundaries between fairies and humans. Through beauty and grace, she kept the two disparate peoples at peace and in good relations. Only she, a mixed blood between the two and the first of her kind, was able to keep these two groups peacefully coexisting. Using her skills and fairy powers, she brought good fortune to both groups, helping them to prosper. It was through luck and determination that she arose to become the Queen of the Fairies and continued her goal, even after the Fairies decided to start to isolate themselves from Humans who were continually encroaching upon Fairy society.
The woman continued to do her job, though the two groups of people were still separated - now more spirtually than ever, especially as it Catholicized. She kept their relations well and strained all of her powers of luck and fortune to keep both groups happy whenever they came across one another, as the planes are so intertwined on that magical green island that complete separation wasn't possible.
And as the world changed, becoming more geared towards one of these groups, so too did the woman. Not many of a non-divine essence are able to achieve what happened next. It is perhaps only through sheer luck that she became one of the few to ever ascend to Embodiment, leaving behind what she once was. This new woman, Luck, now helped to balance two worlds, just as she did before, but one of them was different; a divine, pure world that guided, and was guided by, the humans she oversaw.
Now, more than ever, she continued to help these humans prosper in a world that wanted to give them power and take it away from them at the same time. And as society changed, so did she. Just like many folks of the Eire, she moved her heart to a new place where she hoped to continue helping the people that once were hers.
As part of her persona, she became a nurse, bringing the ultimate fortune of all: the saving of lives. She performed lucky miracle after lucky miracle to save the lives of people, especially soldiers, though these miracles were rarely attributed to her. But she dutifully served, while still going out to help bring fortune to some of those who deserved it.
Eventually, she joined the military, posing as a man to become a combat medic and perform miracles in the field that practically required luck to keep others alive. When women were allowed to serve, she stopped posing and remained there in the army, one of the first female combat medics ever.
And through this time, she never strayed too far from the magical green island. Whenever they struggled, she did her best to help them. Whenever they strove for independence, she helped to fight for them. Whenever troubled times loomed over, she did her best to try and unite them, even as the land itself was split in half.
These days, whenever someone thinks of 'the luck of the Irish' they are secretly and unknowingly paying homage to her and they don't even know her name: Mollee.
