lol i dont draw werehog sonic at all so I dont know what I was doing. I think I did pretty good.

My guesses are 1) they wanted to try to at least keep some semblance of the original sonic's personality in the werehog design, and what better way to do that than by keeping his signature shoes? :D
and 2) ...i'm willing to bet that at least one of the original developing artists is/was aware of sonic's... 'alternative following', and probably wanted to withhold as much fuel-to-the-fire as necessary ;P
not only that, but to the normal fan, I think seeing werehog running around with giant plantigrade feet would probably end up becoming really jarring for a lot of people. even if it was cartoony.
