Captain Alena 'Quill' Maichiru has been given a job. It seems like an easy one, just go and babysit some salvage until the company can send a ship of their own. No problem, right? They're even offering a large sum of money just for the sake of them marking the claim. Except there's just one problem. Qilins are too curious for their own good.

I hope you don't mind me hijacking your character for this retooling of the idea. I'm still contemplating the steampunk reboot and so on but this works too. :) The name is actually leftover from an earlier version of the idea back when it was intended as mainstream idea but I liked the ship name so much I kept it.
I hope you got the references I seeded in there from other scifi's now and then. ;)

Well, they're not super recent references so you might get them, if not I'll let you know the two I put in on purpose. :)
For this world, I took a hint from some scifi universes and decided you don't need a whole galaxy, a system is enough, plus the technology, it's advanced, but no laser beams or shields, they're pretty but I like a gritty lived in feel to my universe.
I hope I faked the poker game well enough at the beginning, I know next to nothing about poker. ;)

No one ever expects the dinosaur inquisition!
I'll take that as a compliment, though in truth the original plan was for felitaurs. I had thought to reboot the chakat universe but was convinced it wouldn't really serve any point so I let it lie fallow for a while. After I got interested in my dino form, met a new dear friend, and realized I had a dinosaur character I didn't have a niche for anymore as well as a dino adoptable I had to buy, the rest sort of fell into place.
I think it's a compelling story, and if anyone knows the original intended universe they may see some of the parallels still there, but I think it serves as it's own unique story regardless. :)
At this time, there are 9 chapters planned, with a sequel outlined, but whether it continues beyond that depends. I'm working on 14 short stories set in my universe that I hope to self publish as an anthology with two guest stories, a star trek fanfic, a star wars fanfic, this project, and maybe other things.... So I'll be busy for a while, haha.
