This is Astrum Volgus Vanitas, an alternate, antagonistic personality created by Will after the revelation that he was always a demon, and he was bred; created, not conceived. Astrum embodies Despair; he believes that because the world broke him, he should beak it back. As vengeful and driven as he is, the one trait that sets him apart from his heroic base personality is that he’s calculating; he understands the truth about his powers, revels in it, and has a plan to spread his emptiness across the world.
