I broke my big toe on my left foot last night at work. It was so stupid how it happened, almost comical even.
Basically I was going to grab some boxes, and someone decided to stand a rack sideways over them, I thought I could squeeze them through, so I pushed the rack over with my foot, and somehow, it actually spun around and landed upside down right behind my heels, then I got stuck again under a stupid drivers sign, and the combination of that and the rack behind my heels, tripped me all up, I let go of the boxes and let them fall, but it didn't matter, I still fell on top if the rack behind me.
I didn't see what happened because of the boxes, but I either got my shoe caught in something, or smashed it up against something as hard as I possibly could, enough to break my toe it seems, at first I thought it was ok, but apparently I hit it far harder than I thought.
My old camera doesn't really do the pictures justice, it's a lot more red and purple than it looks, especially on the underside.

None needed (as if they would), I can still walk and work like normal though, I just did today without too much trouble, and there's not really anything a doctor can do aside from give me pain killers, which honestly I'm pretty tough, this isn't enough pain to make me want them. Broken toes or fingers usually don't need casts or any other treatment. It's just gonna have to heal on it's own.
that's how my entire foot looked after I sprained the hell outta my ankle and the ball of my foot. Over rotated a front flip on a trampoline, caught my toes and ball of the foot on the mat and ankle rolled out sideways. This was two weeks ago and the swelling and bruising has gone down, but I still have my ankle brace if I'm gonna stand or move around for more than 30 mins.
Not sure, everyone handles pain differently though, it did hurt A LOT when I first did it, I was doubled over in pain and super pissed. I've broken other toes the same way before, but it's always calmed down after awhile. I can still feel a dull pain right now, but it's entirely tolerable. I can't put any pressure on it though or it hurts like a bitch. Usually what is suppose to happen is when you body receives an extended amount of pain is the body "gets use to it", your body should release endorphins and slow the brains singles to that area as coping mechanisms, but it is proven that being mentally tough helps too. Things like cognitive behavioral therapy can be practiced too, which aims to improve your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, which effect each other, for instance if you tell yourself you feel good, you can take it, and you can convince yourself of that, usually your feelings and behaviors will improve to match that and you can deal with pain and stress easier.
Owwwww... *facepalms into wing* So sorry to hear it, bud... yeah, it's really nutty how these things can happen.. I recently just tripped over a cord and broke my same exact talon toe... ;P .. yours looks a lot worse though.. but yeah, I had some blood come to the surface the following day... you've got a major one there... *gentle winghugs* .. I checked the NIH website and it says just keep it immobilized as best you can for 5 to 6 weeks and if it gets worse be sure to see a pro... get well soon!
