This is the second chapter out of five of my pokévore story. I hope you have enjoyed it so far!
Update* I changed the main protagonist's name because of confusion with a character with the same name from the game Kingdom Hearts. This was unintentional and has been changed.
Feel free to comment and give critique and have a pleasant read!

Chapter 2: A New Friendship begins
Rieku woke up to the faint sound of rain. He yawned and tried to stretch out his body like he normally does every morning, but found out he couldn’t. He was stuck in the coils of a snake! His drowsy mind was immediately panicking.
“Huh? Hey! W-what is…?”
He was interrupted by a voice from above. He looked up and saw a silhouette of a cobra. All the memories rushed back to him as it spoke.
“Good morning little one, or shall I say, good afternoon.” Voss said with a soft smile.
“You have been sleeping for a day and a half and it started raining, so I thought it was best to avoid getting you too wet and chilled. Even with your thick fur you might get a cold.”
Finally feeling his strength returning, Rieku tried to figure out which of the many questions he should ask first.
“Who are you?” he asked, to which the cobra shook its head.
“We’ll have this discussion back in my den. If you really trust me, jump on my back and I’ll take you there.”
Rieku did as he was told and he was soon going through the shrubbery of the forest with great speed. He was just about to start enjoying the ride as it stopped as sudden as it started.
“Welcome to my simple home” the Arbok proclaimed.
As Rieku jumped off, he could see a small hole in the ground next to some rocks under a half- rotten tree. It seemed quite murky in there.
“I know it’s not much but it works fine for me.” The snake scratched the back of its head with its tail.
“Follow me, little one.”
Rieku followed the cobra into his home but couldn’t help but feel wary of the situation. He was following a snake into its nest? What madness has come over him? He was hoping that the snake, what was his name (Vas…Wash?) would keep his end of the deal and let him live.
The burrow was dark and damp, splitting off into several separate rooms underground. Voss stopped in the first room, which only had a small air hole in the ceiling that provided the faintest bit of light. There, he turned around to face Rieku.
“I’m an Arbok. My name is, as I’ve told you before, Voss. I stem from Kanto but was released here by my former trainer. Now I live life in these forests as far away from humans as possible. Hunting my own food, enjoying the sun and continue the circle of life. I’m still working on the last part though.”
Rieku couldn’t help but giggle a little.
“Sorry.” He said. “Please continue.”
After rolling his eyes, Voss continued.
“I’m at level 28 and still trying to get stronger. You’ll need to get stronger yourself if you want to survive in these parts of the forest.” He said with a stern look on his face.
“But on to why you’re still alive.”
Rieku was just starting to get comfortable, well as comfortable as one could be in a damp snake den, but jolted back to life. His eyes widened and sparks started flying from his small yellow cheeks.
“Do you remember the deal we decided on?”
Rieku nodded and clenched his paws.
“You might be the king the trees but down here it is I who rule and you’ve got no chance of escape. You got that?”
Rieku nodded submissively, not lifting his eyes from the ground in a mix of fear and respect.
“Look at me, Rieku! Good. Now it’s time for you to uphold your part of our contract. You will assist me in the hunting of other Pokémon purely as a source of food. You will help me guard us against enemies and you will follow my commands without any hesitation. Is that clear?”
“Yes, s-sir.”
“Very good Rieku. I can promise you that if you do as I say I will treat you like my equal. If you do not however... you already know that part of the story.”
Rieku shuddered and nodded.
“Now, little one. Tell me your story, your background. I’m very interested in hearing it.”
The squirrel proceeded in telling him his story, about his parents whom had no interest in him, his siblings that always bullied him for being the weakest of the bunch and his small tree in the outskirts of the woods that he had claimed as his own. The food was probably gone by this point despite being protected in his static fur balls. All the while, Voss listened intently.
When Rieku was finished, Voss nodded and sighed.
“You certainly have an interesting story, Rieku and I am really sorry for you.” He said with a sad look on his face.
“Now that we’re on the clear we can finally catch some lunch..” he said with a renewed smile. “My belly needs some filling and I bet yours do too.”
Oblivious to the fact before, Rieku felt a growing hunger and a rumble in his stomach.
“Yeah, let’s catch us some lunch Voss… I mean sir.” Rieku started to blush over his own clumsiness.
“Call me Voss. I find ‘sir’ very… impersonal.”
Rieku couldn’t believe what had happened to him in such a short time. He was eaten, but still alive. He was obligated to help one of his predators whom will hunt Pokémon such as himself or else he would be eaten again. He was…
“Are you coming or not, Rieku?” Voss said sternly.
“Coming!”
But, he thought to himself as he hurried after the snake. He wasn’t alone anymore.
