I think? I know it had to do with the syllables.. but I tend to have the worst time splitting up words ^^;

The haiku rules don't seem hard and fast. 5-7-5 syllables (like yours) is the most common I've seen in English (not that I read other languages. The only Japanese I know I learned in martial arts classes). However I think using language stress weights is more accurate.

yes, i think so, too. I also think I recall it is supposed to have something from nature, and have a pivot word, and relate two opposing ideas, among other things.

Yeah, and this book I have of haikus by authors who are allegedly legendary haikuers, translated into English, of course (because learning a new language for me would be like learning to walk on six legs) -- these guys don't do those things in a majority of their poems. Granted, something might be lost in translation, but not THAT much!

So, I just tend to think a haiku should be fun and if I get something more in it, then I deserve a lollipop. Dipped in gin. ^v^

I got it right! partially (the 5-7-5 bit) but, stress weights? I will say i notice emphasis on certain words when i read what i write... but *tilts head* outside of that i don't think i understand *doom* ^^;
