The fourth floor hall way was quiet, and peaceful. Just the way Faalrin liked it. For the last hour, he had been tending to the mansion's plants, and was mostly done now that he only had the fourth floor to finish up on. "Just the hall... then master's quarters." He thought while he poured water into the pot of a tall flower next to a window.
Faalrin had been a royal gardener before he escaped the reclusive Drakespire city. Until the one particular fateful day, he had spent nearly every day of his life inside the grounds of the palace, forbidden from leaving, unless there were gardening duties to be done at one of the king's estates. Outside of the royal palace, most of the land inside Drakespire city's walls was covered with cramped, small houses, farmland, or military areas, and in the years before Faalrin's departure the former two had increasingly been replaced with the latter. With the city being only two dozen miles wide, sacrifices had to be made when the king decided the further expand his forces. For Faalrin, fortunately, he and the other royal gardeners had been exempted from the mandatory conscription like the other employees of the palace.
Faalrin, unlike most dragons in the mansion, and like most dragons back in Drakespire, for that matter, was a mixed breed, with both warrior dragon and servant dragon ancestry. He was of average size considering this, being a few inches short of six feet. He didn't have a warrior's figure, but was active enough that his body was lightly toned in spite of his love for cakes. Faalrin's scales were a pleasant green shade, and his eyes were lightly gray. For sure, he wasn't bad on the eyes.
Suddenly, Faalrin heard, and felt, large pawsteps on the ground. At the end of the hall, the curtain covering the tall, arched doorway was swept aside by a large, gold hand as Gaaren stepped through. Faalrin blushed.
"Good morning, master Gaaren." He said.
After nearly ten years in the mansion, he had gotted used to the warrior dragon's casual nudity but still found himself taken aback by his master's form. As if Gaaren wasn't already impressive enough in his physique, he was also the largest warrior dragon Faalrin had ever seen, at eight feet exactly.
"Hello, Faalrin." the gold dragon replied. "A little late to be tending to the flowers, huh? I thought you only liked doing your gardening in the dawn hours", he said with a curious gaze.
"Oh, that's right... Not today though, Maara had errands for me at the market. I just returned one hour ago." The smaller dragon answered.
"Right... Well, how about you put the water can down and join me for some steam? Maara's been giving you more errands than normal lately, I think."
"Well..." Faalrin smiled. "Sure, that sounds... fine, master Gaaren", Faalrin said, placing his water can next to the flower pot. "Yeah, I'll join you." He continued, following Gaaren as he walked through the hall, towards the staircase to the mansion's top floor.
"Good..." the gold dragon said. "By the way... Are you hungry?"
