In the background: R46B and SX-99 by Hallicrafters, and a Drake 2B and 2BS.
Foreground: Drake 2-CQ, 2-C with 2-NB, 2-NT, hand key and my VFO project.
This would have been the ultimate Novice setup in 1970 or so.
I'm looking forward to making a fool of myself again early next year in the Novice Rig Roundup. Earlier this year, all I had was the 2-C and the 2-NT and two old FT-243 crystals.

Gorgeous kit. The analogue realm, indeed!
I have a silly soft spot for for big ol' moving-coil meters. Always have had; it's just something about the aesthetic that hits me somewhere vulnerable. Weird, I know, but still. (I assume those ones are moving-coil?)
The Morse key is lovely too.

CQ, CQ... The whole rig, speaker and all! My brother identified the "Watt Birdmeter" on top. Always had one on his work bench, and one in the on-call truck.
A geek at the MIT flea market had what he called a 'floating key'. Rare earth magnets suspended the bar over the contactor, making an almost zero-force key. Sort of a prototype, I guess. The MIT Flea is heaven for hackers.

Tat's sort of how the Bencher iambic paddles work. Until you drop it on the floor and spend a month looking for the pieces.
I on the other hand, want a Hallicrafters HA-1 keyer to use with my Vibroplex Vibrokeyer paddle.
