Welp.. last month my old Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet finally took the turn towards the door, got a short in somewhere and was doing a piss poor job flickering on and off. $400 later I ended up with a shiny new Wacom Intuos Pro Pen & Touch Special Edition.

this is NOT finished but this is a before and after where I had to stop with the old tablet and where I picked up and redid stuff with the new, top is old bottom is new. I'll post the full finished image later but I am quite happy with the changes.
