Aaaand, painted version of the previous picture. I changed the look of the magic while I was coloring, as I noticed that the effect of hard white light on the burn umber ground reminded of the cold light cast by lightning bolts. Titanium white and burnt umber is an awesome combination for monochrome paintings anyway, it allows for both warm and cool shades and burnt umber can get very dark allowing for a nice range of values.
