AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!...
For "Memory" theme of the DA 100 theme meme: http://quaidezmaster.deviantart.com.....rnal/18811650/
Tried a bit of experimental coloring here...
First off, it's not creepy, grungy, dark coloring or super-saturated, insane, eye-bleedingly bright colors, but HOLY HELL... IT'S PASTELS! WTF?!
Also... relatively simple coloring, but I wanted to experiment with hinting at the color of the character and the clothes by just coloring what would normally be the shadow as the color that area would normally be. (Scanner killed some of the colors though. >:C )
So, this is something based off of real life. I have a winter coat I got not too long ago. Being a winter coat, obviously, I don't take it out as much and the fabric has a certain smell to it. And that fabricy coat smell brings back nice memories for me... which often causes me to, rather overtly, sniff at my coat in public.
So... that's what is pretty much happening with Edgar. He got some older coat, in which the smell brings back good memories. I mean... it makes sense for him... he's a dog... AND DOGS ARE GOOD AT SMELLING THINGS!
BLAH BLAH BLAH!

Mark Stanley, artist of the FreeFall webcomic, touched on the smell thing for his central character. She keeps fabrics and objects in sealed containers because the smell of them for her is a better reminder of a period in her life than a picture.
I really like when you go minimalist. You seem to have good instincts for when it's most appropriate. For this scene, it suggests that Edgar's world is pretty much reduced to himself and the memories that the coat is bringing. The world will have to wait until he's ready to deal with it again!

Bark barks smell things good lolligags.
Pretty when smelly things though. Like a tranquil beach on a bleach white day, when the air is still enough to allow all pleasures and sensations to swarm around you without hindrance. Bark bark wear clothes though, that funny too roflwaffles.
