Mrs. Brisby - Character study
Just trying to get the hang of drawing the little mouse. A few doodles from the early parts of the movie.
It was a bit of a swing moving to this kind of style from studying more formal anatomy. The book I was working from teaches an 8-head high method for proportion, and little Ms. Brisby stands barely over three heads tall at full extension. Was a bit of an adjustment! My first few doodles had her quite a bit too tall, but this batch here I think is more or less right.
Yeah, I might be a bit obsessed. Don't be too surprised if you see quite a bit of this character over the next little while.
Anyway, I don't usually draw on the weekends, but this wasn't work anyway, I was just having some fun. Lemme know how I did!

No, but apparently they're planning something... http://www.thenerdsignal.net/?p=4877

Try working from these, then see if you can create your own poses and expressions.

I'm sure I'll get around to doing my own work eventually, but right now I'm enjoying using the poses from the movie as a sort of 'gesture sketch' reference. That's something I need to be doing anyway and I feel like it'll actually translate to my normal work fairly well. Since I'm also studying backgrounds and composition, you'll probably mostly be seeing copied movie scenes for the next little while... but I'll get around to it, don'tcha worry. :P
I should look for where I saw some of her original model sheets - but what might help is that her skull construction is more of an egg shape pointing forwards than a straight circle. (I do love the way she came out in Gary Goldman's animation scenes - it gives her so much MASS.) But otherwise, you have the whole pixie eyes and swept hair down, the way only us obsessed fangirls can usually get into a design...
...did you just call me a fangirl? I mean I don't mind I guess, though I'm not sure I have quite the right equipment for that classification. x3
Yeah, the head shape was throwing me a bit, but I did see that character sheet and perhaps with some more fiddling that'll help!
