Viola isn't a trainer, she is a traveler. Often sticking to rivers and bodies of water, she travels around regions on her own. She found a Buizel one day while catching fish, and they spent the day just catching things. Afterwards, the Buizel decided to stick around with Viola as she gives her fish. In fact, she doesn't have any way of knowing what Buizel is. Its not caught at all. It just sticks around. So Viola has named her "bud" because its her little travel buddy.
