I got you some flowers, I hope you like 'em
Did this image as part of a portfolio, but by itself it may be one of my favorite pictures I have ever created. I suppose I just liked how it all came out, especially the vegetation, which is weird because who is going to care about the weeds? :P Anyway this is obviously influenced by Inuyasha, except Kilala is an anthro in this image. In the actual manga/anime Shippo (the little humanoid Kitsune character) is usually pared with Kilala here and they form a very close (but platonic) bond in the series. Of course in the seires Kilala is a non-anthro feline, but what if she was anthro instead, well I guess this would be one possible scenario.
Poor Shippo, he is only seven I think? But I think all us boys (and girls) had at least one innocent crush when we were that age too.

Actually, to be wholly honest, before I read your comments about the piece, I said to myself, "There is something exceptionally good about this piece, but I can't put my finger on it." As soon as I saw you mentioned the foliage, I practically shouted 'eureka'. Even if it isn't something that will catch the eye, the excellent job you did with the foliage makes all the difference when someone is looking at the picture. It adds to the piece as a whole.
Excellent work all around.

I admit it: I've never liked Inuyasha the show. It's, to me, just DBZ for girls. But Kilala (Kirara, w/e) was, is and will always be awesome sauce. Just one of if not the cutest and coolest anime furries ever. This image is great all around, and it shows you can do really sweet stuff that doesn't have to be sexual at all. Plants are hard to draw, I know, because I don't like to focus on the backgrounds too much. They're hard also because there's so much detail, and so many ways to make them look stupid.
You're getting better. More please.

Awww.... this IS sweet....
I hate Inuyasha, it's too damn long and does the exact same shit. It's like DBZ for girls (to quote Scott R.), but at least DBZ had more mindless violence to make up for it.
But if Inuyasha was more like this, it probably would have been more bearable. I like this piece very much.

You should be happy with how this came out. Fabulous work, Brian! I love the detail on the vegetation and platform they're on. That must have been a pain in the ass to do!
I admit, I'm not familiar with the characters from the original story, but they're very well done. Good show!

i have to honestly agree that this is one of my favorite pictures of yours. the details on the plants is just outstanding <3 Kilala and Shippo also have to be my favorite "couple" from the series, even though it's a platonic relationship.
either way though. is there a chance to see the other images from this portfolio? or were they posted earlier in your gallery?

Personally, I find this adorable. :) I like the Shippo/Kilala relationship, they were one of the more amusing "couples" in the show, even though in it it wasn't a romantic one- I think it showed out that they cared for each other more clearly when there wasn't any hormones to confuse the issue.
As for Shippo's age- its unclear, because he's a demon- whether they age as fast, faster, or slower than humans is pretty vague.

*Nods* That roughly matches my interpretation, he did honestly seem very young and naive for a demon when he first appeared- though the actual rate of maturity is subject to debate, since Rumiko didn't actually detail that. Do they mature slowly to match their epic lifespans? So they mature quickly, then just remain unaging?
