It was now 2003; I started the year off with this drawing, which was based on one of my favorite songs by Ceredwen, titled Blwyddyn I Heno. I believe the song is in Welsh. You can find the lyrics here.
This piece also took inspiration from
AutumnSunrise, who had told me sometime prior that Jowana reminded her of Yavanna, the Valië of the Earth who created some of the most beautiful trees. The idea really stuck with me, and has since become a part of the character's canon.
Dated January 2003.

I simply speak the truth. The influence you gave me then regarding Jowana's character has pretty much determined the direction of her evolution as a character, the impacts of which are more profound than you may have realized. It was actually a big reason behind the transformation of Bagheera's stories (the "canon" ones - The Last Whale and The Shores of Eternity) from simple sci-fi tales into sci-fi fantasy (it was more than just because the LotR films happened to have come out around that time). The world being named Valinor and the key characters being named after the Valar both in part have to do with Jowana being associated with Yavanna (and my introduction to The Silmarillion by you).
The chapter The Colors of Spring in The Leopard Sun was a direct reference and foreshadowing of Jowana's eventual becoming of Yavanna, I am sure you caught that. :)
