Mort is genderless (dead things don't really need a gender) but you can refer to them as a he/she. They are pretty neutral.
Mort doesn't remember much of his life before he died (not even how he actually died). He just kinda roams around the earth by himself. Most people can't see him (children and other supernatural things can), so no one really bothers him.

Despite being dead, he doesn't put off much of a smell. If anything there is a faint scent of dirt about him. This is partly because his body no longer decays (it's kinda stuck in time/limbo).
