
Still doodling away at these, now and then. Seeking out animals I feel I'd have more trouble with, still mostly just focusing on the shape and style and not worrying too much about varied expressions yet.
Let's all be honest here, most of these are kinda crap. I guess I wasn't really feeling it today, but I do think they improved a bit once I stopped trying to use real animals as references. That's not all that surprising I guess, it's a lot easier to draw from imagination than it is to try and wrestle with the differences between your reference and what you want to see- well, it is for me anyway.
I think I'm going to have to spend some time seeing how other artists handle various animals, give myself some ideas. Just experimentally drawing heads doesn't seem to be helping all that much.

A good solid sheet here, I'd be happy if any of these had sprung from my hand! There's been a steady improvement through the four sheets you've done. Here's an idea: go back to the first sheet and randomly pick out one or two of the sketches you did, and try them again. That way you can see the progress you've made thus far.
