I can relate to this drawing in a way. My heart has fibrillated twice, yet I survived thanks to the EMT during the ambulance ride and the good folks in the ER ward, who gave me some kind of "magic pill" that shocked my heart into beating correctly. The last time it happened was about ten, or so, years ago. None of the process was at all painful. It just felt like a fluttering in my chest, accompanied with a little light-headedness. I have cheated death twice (maybe more) in my life.
It depends on whether or not the black king is on the white or black square. If he is able to take the rook, then yes, an unavoidable draw as you cannot checkmate with just a knight. If not, then it is a total crush win for White.

Words don't do the symbolism of this piece the justice it deserves. My hat is off to folks like Jaxon and Havoc who do so much for the sake of others. Thank you both for doing what you do. Here's hoping to join you in the good fight as a nurse when that time comes gents.
That scene was also spoofed in Animaniacs when Wacko Warner was supposed to be dead. They beat Death at checkers by cheating. It was also spoofed in Animalympics during either the slalom or the downhill, where a horse skier/actor mentioned a part in a movie and showed a clip of him playing against Death at chess. I wonder how many movies and shows actually did a spoof of that scene.
