So, an hour before sunset, last Sunday, on what was going to be my longest ever solo DAY HIKE (12 hours!), I saw this cage suspended between two trees, about 3 meters off the logging road, in the bush. Upon closer examination, I suspect it was used for releasing a rehabilitated bird, given that it was about 4 meters off the ground, and had a tether attached to the sliding screened door. The forest around there was very dense and dark, so my guess is that someone let loose an owl.
