"There are all manner of magical creatures simply waiting for our senses to be keen enough to find them," ~ Irish Proverb.
The way I see it, "magic" is just a word for that very special feeling we get when something out of the ordinary happens to us; it's a moment in time that defies normalcy, despite life's best attempts at being totally mundane. Spending time with someone we love can be magical, seeing a beautiful work of art is also magic, to some people seeing a new movie or playing a new video game is magic - it's an incredibly personal and individual feeling, yet somehow we all know what it feels like. I can guarantee that if you go back in your mind you will find a few moments that stand out in technicolor as if the rest of your life was filmed in washed-out gray-tones, those magic moments you will cherish forever.
We all pretend that magic isn't real, and yet we seek out those moments in our lives like bloodhounds - searching for love, chasing a special moment, looking for that oh-so-brief relief from our everyday lives.
We all pretend magic isn't real, but we know we're all hiding from the truth: magic is out there, we just have to find it.
I'm so confident in the existence of magic because I create it every day. I create life out of relative nothingness - I make dolls out of nothing more than wire, foam, wool, and determination - and I breath magic into those dolls every time I set them in front of my camera.
I do all this because I believe that instead of just letting magic find us wherever we may be it is far better to actively seek it out and construct it out of the world around us. Magic is out there, we just have to be willing to find it.
I am different in that I don't just find the magic around me, I create it every day
