This is RAD. I love the concept of post-apocalyptic warriors using whatever the hell they have to hand as armour, even if it means strapping planks of wood to their legs and frying pans over their breasts. Apparently some of the raider armour in Fallout is supposed to be made of bits cut out of car floor mats, with various sharp pokey things like bolts and screws driven through them.

yeah, the later Fallouts tend to be a bit convenient, but you need to strike that balance for a game world so that it actually has something to do.
